Policy Development and Approval Process

The development, revision, and retirement of university-level policies are governed by BOT-02: Policy Development, Revision, and Retirement. This policy outlines the roles and responsibilities of the Board of Trustees, the President, and the Policy Executive Committee (PEC) in the approval process.

Proposal

Identify Need

Responsible Office determines whether to create, revise, or retire a policy.

Submit Proposal

A proposal request form is submitted to the University Policy Office.

Development

Draft Policy

Policy is drafted or revised; stakeholders are consulted for feedback.

Public Review

Draft is posted for a 10 business-day public comment period.

Approval

Final Approval

Policy is routed to the Policy Executive Committee, and Board of Trustees when required.

Publish Policy

Approved policy is posted on the University Policies website.
